Chaith 18 dalta Idirbhliana oíche amuigh faoi spéir i bpubaill trasna an bhealaigh ó Ostán an Sliabh Beagh,

Cnoc an tSalainn agus thug siad faoi shiúlóidí fada i bportach Bhragáin chun páirt amhán den ghradam Gaisce a chomhlíonadh agus an ghrian ag scoilteadh na gcloch. Bhí teas fíanta ann. Eighteen Transition Year students spent last Thursday night outside in tents across from the Sliabh Beagh Hotel, Knockatallon and undertook long walks in glorious sunshine through Bragan bog to fulfill one aspect of their Gaisce award.
Rinne na múinteoirí Faela Mhic Dhomhnaill, Comhordaitheoir na hIdirbhliana, agus Cathal Mac Tiarnáin na scoláirí a dtionlacan ann. Bhí scoth na haimsire acu agus taobh amuigh de chorr-spuaic bhain iomlán acu an-sásamh as. Nuair a d’éiirgh siad róthé bhí siad ábalta iad féin a chaitheamh isteach san uisce agus snámh a sáith ansin. We thank Tanagh Outdoor Education Centre for the use of two tents, we thank our guide, Paddy Sherry and John Moyna and the staff of the Sliabh Beagh Hotel for facilitating the adventure. Students got breakfast of tea, coffee, toast, cereal and sausages and an evening meal of chicken curry, rice and chips. This is relative luxury in the context of Gaisce. They also had a shopping budget and shopping was done frugally and carefully before leaving Monaghan town.  They erected the tents carefully following every instruction later covered over 30km walk during their visits. Is ceantar iargúlta portaigh agus sleibhtiúil é Bragan agus ba é Paddy Sherry a bhí mar threoraí acu. Is treoraí lánoilte é a bhfuil an-suim aige sa flora agus fána. Bhí an luas siúil bunaithe ar an tsiúlóir is moille. Bhí na daltaí thar barr agus iad ag léiriú measa ar an ionad campála, an timpeallacht agus an tuath i rith an ama. Níor fhág siad rud ar bith i do dhiaidh ach lorg na mbróg. Maith sibh!
