A group of Coláiste Oiriall TY students who undertook the Gaeilge24 – Speak Irish for a Day project on Tuesday week last, 15 November. The project aimed to encourage young people to speak Irish for 24 hours continously at school, at home, around the town, with friends and at social activities with a view to giving them a positive perspective of the lrish language.

Coláiste Oiriall wishes to congratulate former student, Lily Cheung, who was acknowledged with an Entrance Scholars’ Award at a ceremony in UCD O’Reilly Hall last Thursday. A commemorative plaque was presented to the school to mark the event.

Alison Nic Giolla Bhríde agus an Múinteoir Olivia Nic Canainn, Ceann Roinn na Gaeilge. Bhí aiste Theastais Shóisearaigh Aisling i 2015 ar cheann de cheathrar ab fhearr timpeall na tíre as 50,000 aiste. Alison was one of only four students from the 51,996 candidates nationwide who sat the examination to receive this accolade.

Cillian Mac an Fhailí, Lurgans, Carrickmacross and past pupil in Coláiste Oiriall was presented with a DCU Academic Scholarship in the Helix Theatre on the college campus last Wednesday night. The ceremony was attended by his parents, Fiona and Paul and by Coláiste Oirial principal, Brendan Ó Dufaigh. Cillian did his Leaving Certificate in 2016.

Faigheann Coláiste Oiriall an bua ar Choláiste Pobail Dhún Seachlainn le 36 phointe go dtí 23 phointe chun an chraobh chailíní faoi 19B a bhaint don dara bliain as a chéile i gcluichí ceannais Shraith an Oirthuaiscirt de Chispheil Éireann i gCarraig Mhachaire Rois.

Coláiste Oiriall defeated Loreto College, Navan by 66 points to 36 in the Phoenix Centre, Carrickmacross yesterday to win the under 69B Girls BI North East League. Ar chúl ó chlé: Emily Ní Bhraonáin, Antonio Ní Mhealláin, Eadaoin NÍ Chearáin, Lara Ó Máirtín, Gemma Nic Seáin agus Aisling Ní Ghallchóir, Chun tosaigh: Mia Ní Raghallaigh, Helen Nic Criostail, Amy Ní Dhaighre, Aimee Ní Dhufaigh agus Caoimhe Nic an Bháird. Ba í Aisling Ní Ghallchóir an scórálaí ab airde le 32 phointe.

Déanann muid comhghairdeas le Morgan Nic Cionna, dalta cúigiú bliana i gColáiste Oiirall agus imreoir cispheile le Blackwater Steelers a rognaíodh ar phainéal forbartha na hÉireann ag cispheil ban faoi 17. Tá 31 imroeir san iomlán ar an phainéal tarraingthe as 18 gcumann ar fud na tíre agus tá an dara duine áitiúil ar an fhoireann fosta
