Coláiste Oiriall congratulates the class of 2016 who received impressive Leaving Certificate results last week and the vast majority of them were delighted with the CAO offers they received on Monday morning – many receiving their first choices. Again the Leaving Certificate results in the school were well above the national averages.

Course offers accepted by Coláiste Oiriall students include Business with Irish in DCU, Business Management in Maynooth University, Agricultural Science in UCD, Astro Physics in Maynooth University, Civil Law in NUI Galway, Construction Management in DIT and Early Childcare Education in Trinity College (Marino). Three former students will do primary school teaching in DCU, while two students will study Commercial and Modern Music at BIMM/DIT and a further two students will do Arts in Maynooth University. Other students will undertake Sports Exercise and Enterprise Computing, Sports Coaching and Performance, Computing in Games Development, Social Studies, Communications and Creative Media and Nursing.

We wish them well at third level and we thank their parents for their co-operation and support for the past six years. It is important to note that Coláiste Oiriall is a mixed ability school and in this context the results right across the ability spectrum are very good. Some of these results may not grab a newspaper headline but, nonetheless, provide much satisfaction and pride.

Fuair roinnt daltai os cionn 500 pointe. A number of students received in excess of 500 points. Ruairí Mac Cionna will study in Maynooth University, , Lily Cheung will study Science in UCD. Lily secured 570 points. Darren Ó Dufaigh will study Actuarial Mathematics in DCU. Brianán Ní Bhuachalla  will study Medieval and Modern Irish in Trinity College. Brianán has been successful in receiving a scholarship and thus securing accommodation in Teach na Gaeilge. Laoise Ní Laoire  will do primary school teaching in the Institute of Education, DCU (formerly known as St. Pat’s).  Déanann muid comhghairdeas leis na daltai ar fad.
