Is cúis áthais do Choláiste Oiriall go bhfuil beirt dalta dár gcuid imithe ar aghaidh chuig craobh na hÉireann den chomórtas Eigse Éireann. Is comórtas ag rá filíochta amach go poiblí de ghlanmheabhair. Beidh an Chraobh ar siúl i Leabharlann Náisiúnta na hÉireann luath i mí na Nollag.

Two Coláiste Oiriall students, namely Brendan Mac Domhnaill and Oisin Ó Broin in the junior and intermediate sections respectively have won through to the national finals of the Poetry Aloud speaking competition. The semi-final was held in the National Library and the final will be in the same venue on 2nd December. Both students recited two poems each for the adjudicators. Two other Oiriall students won through the heats and despite giving a good performance on Friday were unsuccessful in advancing to the finals.

Poetry Aloud is open to all post-primary students in Ireland and is organised by Poetry Ireland and the National Library of Ireland. Since it was launched in 2006, Poetry Aloud has grown from just a few hundred entries to over 1,700 entries in 2016.
