Bhuaigh foireann cailíní peile faoi 16 Oiriall ar St. Pius College, Machaire Fíolta an Chéadaoin seo chuaigh thart ag Páirc ghaofar Uí Néill, Dún Geanainn leis an scór 5-5 go dtí 2-5 le fáil isteach go Craobh Uladh C faoi 14.

Foireann faoi 16 peil cailíní D’aimsigh Aisling Ní Ghallchóir dhá chúl, Chloe Nic Giolla Bhríde dhá chúl agus Caoimhe Nic an Bháird cúl. Scóráil Morgan Nic Cionna ceithre phointe galánta fosta.

Coláiste Oiriall Girls’ under 16 Gaelic football team defeated St. Pius College, Magherafelt in a windswept O’Neill Park, Dungannon last Wednesday on a scoreline of 5-5 to 2-5 to reach the Ulster C final. Two goals from Aisling Ní Ghallchóir, two from Cloe Nic Giolla Bhríde and a fifth from Caoimhe Nic an Bhaird coupled with four points from Morgan Nic Cionna ensured victory for the Oiriall girls. One of the Magherafelt’s goals resulted from a dubious penalty involving Hannah Nic Sceacháin and Claire Ní Dhufaigh who were trying to clear their line.

Thug sárthaispeántas Emma Uí Chleirchín ag amanna tábhachtacha sa chluiche uchtach do chailíní Oiirall, go speisialta luath sa dara leath nuair a lig siad Mahcaire Fíolta isteach sa chluiche arís cé go raibh an ghaoth leis cailíní Oiriall. Chríochnaigh an chomhimirt idir í féin agus Lynda Paddy le pointe galánta – ach ar ndóighe tá muid cleachtaithe leis an chomhimirt seo idir na himreoirí seo.

The move of the match must have been Emma Ní Chleirchín’s point midway through the second half. She ran diagonally across the field from the half-back to half-forward line to cleanly field a free kick from Lynda Paddy and to execute a point perfectly.

Emma Ní Chleirchín played a captain’s part and provided leadership when necessary. Celine Ní Fhailigh worked hard all day and will be sorely missed for the final as she shortly travels to France to enhance her French during Transition Year.

Despite carrying an injury Hannah Nic Sceacháin did well in defence and had to endure regular fouls from her opponent. Aisling Ní Fhearghais and Lynda Paddy showed some flashes of brilliance while Claire Ní Dhufaigh was steady at corner back. Despite playing with the wind in the second half it took them at least ten minutes to settle and St. Pius College appeared to be the more energetic team during this period.

B’iontach gur tugadh ar an dá fhoireann seo imirt an tseachtain seo chuaigh thart mar bhí an dá cheann acu ar bhriseadh mheántéarma. Ní mórán de bhriseadh é do bhainisteoir Oiriall, an Múinteoir Orla Ní Riada a phill go Muineachán don chluiche agus níos moille sa tseachtain a táan fhoireann faoi 20 ag dul ó dheas go Co. an Chláir chun iad a nascadh le chéile tuilleadh roimh Chraobh Uladh s’acusan ar an Chéadaoin seo chugainn.
