Boys under 16 have been lucky to have won the final round of the BI North East Lecture in Dundee on last Wednesday. Hard luck to the Coláiste Oiriall under 16 boys who were defeated St. Patrick's Classical School, Navan in the North East League "C" Final in Kingscourt last Wednesday.

Coláiste Oiriall went ahead early in the game C boys under 16 and were 15-5 ahead at the end of the first quarter. Decided St. Pat's down and they were 6 points ahead of the 20-26 series. Coláiste Oiriall went into an early lead by the end of the first quarter but St. Pat's had settled enough by half time to be in a six point lead. They kept the momentum going in the third quarter and in the final quarter winning them 18: 5 and 17: 7.


The team captain Anann Ó Conchúir played a very good game. Seán Mac Cionna scored 15 points and Tiarnán Ó Roideain scored 12 points.

The boys will now play the All-Ireland qualifying tournament, round 1 on Friday, 8th January with the winners of this preliminary round progressing to the All-Ireland quarter final play-off series.
