Imreoidh Coláiste Oiriall i gCorn Scoileanna uileÉireann sa chispheil cailíní faoi 16 sa Ionad Náisiúnta Cispheile i dTamhlacht ar an Chéadaoin seo chugainn in eadán scoil as an Neidín. Cheana féin bhain siad ar Scoil an Teaghlaigh Naofa, Rath Cúil, Mheánscoil Mhuire, Ballysadare agus Scoil Chuimsitheach Mount Temple, Baile Átha Cliath sa chomórtas.

Wednesday was a historic day for the Colaiste Oiriall U14 boys’ team when they won the VEC Gaelic Football Under 14 County Final. They took on a formidable Castleblayney College team who had romped to victory in every league game this season including a comprehensive win over a weakened Colaiste Oiriall outfit in the first game of the season.

Coláiste Oiriall has launched its St. Patrick’s Festival Concert. The above fifty musicians and singers will form the backbone of the event, which will also include dancing and recitation. The concert will take place in the new Garage Theatre on Monday, 11th March at 8.00 pm.

Everybody in Coláiste Oiriall is delighted with our move across town to our new home on the Monaghan Education Campus in the townland of Knockaconny on the Armagh Road. Last Monday, 18th February was our first day in our new home – unbelievable.

All 6th Class pupils (from Gaelscoileanna and English medium primary schools) are invited to the new Coláiste Oiriall in Knockaconny thisSaturday 23rd February 2013 at 9.45 amfor an Activities Day. Pupils will have the opportunity to spend time sampling Science, Computing, Home Economics, Technical Drawing, Woodwork, Drama, Art, Music and Sport. We will provide complimentary lunch. Congratulations to Lucy Nic Shiacais, a second year student in Coláiste Oiriall, who won out the Newry regional heat of the Gael-Linn public speaking competition, Abair last Thursday. The other three contestants were Katie Ní Chléire, who was placed second, Chloe Ní Ghiolla Mhichil and Caoimhín Ó Ceallaigh. The team mentor was Múinteoir Olivia.

Coláiste Oiriall students, Tara Ní Ghiolla Sheanáin and Cillian MacCába will appear on national television in the quarter finals of the Scor Encore competition on TG4 this Sunday night, 10th March at 8.00 pm. Tara will sing Cailín Deas Cruite na mBó accompanied by Cillian on the guitar.

Hannah Nic Cionna, Deirdre Nic Canna and Aisling Nic an Fhailigh will take part in the second round of the Junk Kouture on Friday in the Millenium Forum in Derry. Their entry is entitled “Ag Leanstan leat síos an pasáiste or “Rolling Down the Aisle” the entire project is co-ordinated by art teacher, Múinteoir Faela.

Ceolchoirm Fhéile Pádraig, Coláiste Oiriall’s St. Patrick’s Concert will take place in the new Garage Theatre next Monday night, 11th March at 8.00 pm. The tickets cost €7 and €3 (concessions). Coláiste Oiriall Under 16 Girls ‘ Basketball team will play Mercy Convent Secondary School, Ballymahon in the All-Ireland C final next Wednesday in the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght

Coláiste Oiriall will compete in four finals of the Basketball Ireland-sponsored Northeast Regional Leagues tomorrow in the Phoenix Centre in Carrickmacross. First up in the morning will be the 1st Year girls who will face Loreto Navan in the “C” Final. Both teams are unbeaten in the league to date progressing to the final from opposite pools.

Almost 100 musicians, dancers, gymnasts and singers formed the backbone of the Coláiste Oiriall Ceolchoirm Fhéile Pádraig which was held recently in the new Garage Theatre, The concert proved to be a feast of  traditional, rock and pop music in Irish and English. A capacity crowd of parents and siblings attended the show.

Congratulations to Katie Ní Chléire, a second year student in Coláiste Oiriall, who won the overall title in the final of the Gael-Linn public speaking competition, Abair last Wednesday in Dungannon. She spoke on the subject “Is fearr an tsláinte na na táinte” (your health is your wealth).

Congratulations to four lucky students in Coláiste Oiriall who are the recipients of scholarships to Stagewise drama school in the King’s Hospital School, Palmerstown, Dublin during the summer. The students are Niamh Ní Chiarnáin, Eimear Nic Con Midhe, Aoibhin Ní Ghabhann and Niamh Nig Aonasa

The inaugural group of cinnirí (prefects) in Coláiste Oiriall have just taken up their positions.

Tá Coláiste Oiriall ag cur sé pháirt-scoláireacht Ghaeltachta ar fáil arís i mbliana do dhaltaí dara bliana. Bronnadh na scoláireachtaí ag tionól an tseachtain seo chuaigh thart agus tugadh litir do na buaiteoirí le tabhairt do lucht an Choláiste Samhraidh. Seo a leanas an seisear dalta dara bliana: Oisin Ó Murchú, Aoibhinn Ní Chianáin, Chloe Nic Uaid, Laura Ní hUallacháin, Aodan Ó Broin agus Inza Nic Canna.

Last week the inaugural group of cinnirí (prefects) in Coláiste Oiriall have just taken up their positions after applications, appointment process and training. Thirteen 5th Year students recently received their badges. Ardchinnirí or Head Boy and Head Girl have now being selected from that cohort of students and we are pleased to announce that

Coláiste Oiriall will travel to the University of Limerick on Thursday to play Presentation College, Milltown, Co. Kerry in the 2nd Year Girls basketball C semi-final. If successful they will return to the court an hour later to play the winners of the other semi-final, either Kinsale Community School or Coláiste Iosagáin, Portarlington. They reached this stage of the competition last year as a 1st Year team.

The following are the results of this year’s Peann agus Pár Literary Competition held in Coláiste Oiriall earlier in the year. The results were announced during Tionól Scoile (School Assembly) last Friday. The adjudicators complimented the entrants in all sections, believing the standard to be very high.
