Comhghairdeas le foireann peile cailíní faoi 16 atá fríd go dtí leathchraobh Uladh tar éis baint ar Phobalscoil Choill an Chollaigh le gairid i gCluain Tiobraid Coláiste Oiriall Under 16 Girls football team defeated Bailieborough Community School in an exciting encounter in Clontibret on Tuesday to secure a place in the Ulster semi-final.

This was a hard fought game with the Monaghan girls’ heart and determination ensuring them victory. Although Bailieborough got an early goal and were the quicker team settling in, Coláiste Oiriall soon fought back with Aisling Ní Fhearghais scoring two goals and Linda Ní Ghiolla Mhichil and Amy Ní hAmaill scoring a goal each. These three forwards formed the backbone of a very effective attack.

Coláiste Oiriall also scored a number of marvellous points including one from Emma Ní Chleirchín in the dying minutes of the game. The local were down by goal at half time but never despaired and ultimately fought their way to victory by eight points. Ellen Ní Bhriain, Niamh Ní Chiaráin and Bronagh Ní Ruanaí did trojan work in defence to keep Coláiste Oiriall in the game.

The Coláiste Oiriall Under 14 Girls’ team have also secured a spot in the Ulster final after recently defeating Inver College by a very comfortable margin. The teams’ mentors are former Clare stalwart, Múinteoir  Orla and current Monaghan stalwart, Dessie Moen. We wish both teams well in their Ulster campaigns.

Guíonn muid gach dea-ghuí ar na foirne agus ar na bainisteoirí agus iad ag tabhairt a n-aghaidh ar fheachtas Uladh sna seachtainí
atá romhainn.
