Amy Ní hAmaill clinched first place in the Minor Girls’ Under-14, 2,000 metres while Jessica Ni Dhruacháin got second place in the Intermediate Girls’ Under-17, 3,000 metres in the District D Schools’ Athletics in Kilmore in difficult weather conditions.

Deirdre Nic Canna was placed sixth in the Intermediate Girls. Ellen Ni Bhriain was 13th and Dervla Fowler was 15th in the Junior Girls’ Under-15, 2,000 metres.  All individual athletes in the top 15 in each race advance to the Ulster finals.  Overall 34 athletes from the school took part in Kilmore.

Amy, Jessica, Deirdre, Dervla and Ellen will represent Coláiste Oiriall in the District Cross County Championship in Mallusk on Wednesday, 23rd February. The best individuals and teams from Districts A, B, C and D will take part. The competition is organised by the Ulster Secondary Schools’ Athletics Association.
