Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills Mary Coughlan T.D. visited Monaghan in early December to unveil plans and digital images for the new VEC Monaghan Education Campus.

 This campus on the site of the former Army barracks will comprise a 16 classroom primary school for Gaelscoil Ultain; a 400 pupil post-primary school for Colaiste Oiriall; the Monaghan Institute of Further Education; a shared sports hall; and a 300 seat capacity theatre/lecture facility to be the new home of the Garage Theatre as well as a number of sports areas.
