Mary Mitchell O’Connor, Minister of State for Higher Education, presented a J.P. McManus All Ireland Scholarship to former Coláiste Oiriall student, Rebecca Nic Cionna.
At a ceremony attended by Joe Schmidt, Ireland Rugby Head Coach, in the University of Limerick Concert Hall recently in recognition of her academic performance in the Leaving Certificate examination. The scholarship is worth almost €34,000 over five years of undergraduate study. Rebecca is studying Biological and Biomedical Sciences in Trinity College. She was accompanied to the ceremony by her mother, Maria. She received her primary education in St. Louis Primary School and received 589 CAO points in her Leaving Certificate in Coláiste Oiriall.

As part of the programme, the Department of Education identifies the two best Leaving Cert results in each of the 26 countries, along with the next 48 most successful results countrywide. Eligible students in the Republic must be in receipt of medical cards.
