Coláiste Oiriall held a very successful table quiz in the Westenra Hotel last Thursday night with loads of food, raffle prizes and spot prizes. A particular thanks to Nora Hegarty

and all the staff at the Westenra Hotel for all their assistance and their generous sponsorships. Tá muid iontach buíoch díbh. The quiz was the culmination of two months of a very successful fundraising campaign that included parents’ subscriptions and a draw with all the proceeds going towards the school’s innovative Green School Sanctuary that will promote the environment, biodiversity and mental health. The school management would like to thank all parents, students, prefects, businesspeople and members of the public who made major contributions, bought raffle tickets and attended the quiz. Go raibh mile maith agaaibh. We now have the funding in place to proceed with this worthy and unique venture.

We have now funding in place to proceed with the Tearmann Glas or Green Garden Sanctuary which will include a polytunnel. There will a be picnic benches, walkway, raised beds inside and outside, planted trees, shrubs and flowers, vegetable plot, bog garden, an insect motel, gardening equipment, a water sprinkling system and we will have water and electricity on the site.
