Students

Coláiste Oiriall operates a strict uniform policy. Students are expected to be in full uniform while on the school premises and coming to and returning home from school. The uniform is available from the Fabric Centre, 15 Park Street, Monaghan (Tel. 047 82062) – near roundabout or opposite St. Joseph’s Church.

Coláiste Oiriall operates a book rental scheme for all year groups. The total cost of renting all textbooks is €60.00 annually per student – a considerable saving for parents. All textbooks are supplied through the school.

Classes start at 9.00 am. Break time is at 10.55 am for 15 minutes. Lunchtime is from 12.20 pm to 1.00 pm. Only Sixth Year students are allowed to leave the premises at lunchtime. The school day finishes at 3.35 pm every day. Students have nine class periods daily.

The Student Council presents students’ ideas to management, endeavours to enhance relationships between students and staff and to help to make school life a pleasant experience for all. Elections are held every May for the Student Council. Each Year group from 2nd to 6th Year elect two members from their particular Year. A Student Council Liaison Teacher will oversee and support the work of the Council.
