Coláiste Oiriall provides a broad range of subjects to students. 19 subjects are offered at Junior Certificate level, 14 of which are examination subjects. First Year student makes no choices until the sampling period has ended at Halloween. We provide a broad and interesting programme of study in Transition Year, which is compulsory in the school. Students make their Leaving Certificate choices towards the end of Transition Year with the help of the Career Guidance teacher. Therefore students are older, more informed and more mature when they make their choices.
We meet parents of First Year students in September and subjects choices are one of the issues discussed. After Easter we hold an Information Meeting with parents of Third Year students to outline the Transition Year programme and we hold a further meeting with parents of Transition Year students to discuss Leaving Certificate choices.
