Psychotherapist addresses Parents’ Association function

Margaret Curran, a Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist from Dromconrath, Co. Meath addressed the parent body of Coláiste Oiriall in the school on Tuesday night. The talk, which was organised by the Parents’ Association, was entitled “Parenting and triggers that can escalate challenges with children/teenagers and cause undue friction”.  Margaret spoke about the impact of a parent’s beliefs and thinking on their children’s behaviour, why children misbehave and ways of dealing with this behaviour and the impact of parents’ thinking on the lives of their children. Her talk was received extremely well and many said that they found it beneficial. The interactive nature of the talk allowed parents the opportunity to articulate their own views.
