Rang Grainne students in Coláiste Oiriall participated in the Innocent Smoothie sponsored Big Knit in aid of Action Ireland as part of their CSPE project. Big Knit In Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills Mary Coughlan T.D. visited Monaghan in early December to unveil plans and digital images for the new VEC Monaghan Education Campus. Third Level Scholarship awarded to former student Gavin Duffy, entrepreneur from Dragons’ Den, presented bronze Gaisce Awards to the following twelve Coláiste Oiriall students at a ceremony in the Mullingar Park Hotel, Co. Westmeath in November. Sárthorthaí Scrúduithe onna Marie Ní Mhuireagáin was awarded a third level scholarship in recognition of her academic performance in the Leaving Certificate examination. The scholarship scheme, funded by the trustees of the J.P. McManus charitable foundation, provides significant financial assistance to top performing students throughout their undergraduate studies. Donna Marie is one of 10 recipients from the Republic of Ireland. The scholarship was presented by Mr. Peter Power, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs at a function in the Concert Hall in University of Limerick.
